Sticks & Stones

Artist Statment

"What’s struck me about this series was a fascination with the shadows and light hitting the river bed. I loved using the paintbrush to convey the subtle shading of the stones worn smooth by the river."

A fly-fisherman has to look at his footing as he moves through the stream. Tom was drawn to the patterns in the river-worn stones he came across while fishing and started recreating the patterns on canvas. This collection of up-close nature paintings was featured in galleries across the country.
