"I was looking out over the vineyard, watching the workers in the field. I was inspired by the beauty of the landscape and the process of harvest. These guys are the real artisans, working with their hands. They’re the ones who make the wine happen."
From the grapes glistening in the sun to the harvesters working methodically in the fields, vineyards offer much inspiration. As a vintner himself, he has been a part of the winemaking process since 2001, but this series started when he was staying in the guest house at Far Niente winery in Napa Valley during harvest. This oil painting series is the culmination of both plain air painting and in-studio work.
